The Bears returned to Saskatoon for the third straight year looking earn their record tying 10th National Championship. It was like Deja Vu all over again as the Bears went into the tournament ranked behind the Canada West Champions University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

The Bears started the tournament on familiar ground as they took on the University of Calgary Dinos, who earned a Wild Card spot in the tournament. Early period jitters got to the Bears but thanks to Ryan Wade's late period goal the Bears left the first on top. Wade continued in his mission as he finished the game with a hat trick, which was enough to defeat the Dinos by a score of 4-2.

The familiar territory did not end as the Bears took on the Number Two ranked University of Trois Rivieres Patriotes in the National semi-finals. Sean Day was the spark plug on this afternoon as he roasted a Patriote defenseman early in the game and walked to to finish on a nice shot to send the Bears in the right direction. The Patriotes again were stymied by the Bears solid defense, which led them to the penalty box once again. Final score 3-1.

The Bears advanced to the National Final against the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds, who had won both of their previous games in overtime. This game would be no different as the Bears went on to defeat the Reds 5-4 in a double overtime thriller, with Russ Hewson scoring for the Bears. Also scoring for the Bears were Knoblauch, McGhan with two, and Kevin Marsh, who was named the tournament MVP.
